Whimsy Quest
An INTERACTIVE PREVENTION experience for elementary school students
on Drug and Tobacco Prevention strategies. Presented through assistance
from Randolph County America's Promise Coalition and
Regional Tobacco Prevention.
Enhance your curriculum – excite your students! Studies indicate that early intervention can help prevent drug and tobacco abuse by increasing Protective Factors and addressing Risk Factors such as confused behavior and self-control. In their traditional, madcap Vaudevillian style, The Old Brick Playhouse Company use singing, stilt walking, acrobatics, and comic antics to provide critical first steps for learning about prevention. Whimsy Quest is the story of a clown, Tic – who finds herself feeling alone, confused, and bored. Her self-remedy is the idea to go on a Whimsy Quest, the search for something that will make her life more exciting and distinguish one day from the next. Throughout the journey, she meets up with several unique characters that share valuable information and methodologies for making good decisions regarding drug abuse, peer pressure, and self-esteem. This original play will delight elementary audiences while encouraging practical approaches to the prevention of substance abuse.
