The Old Brick Playhouse Company wins State Award
Though it was a particularly cold day in January, wild
horses could not have prevented representatives from The Old Brick
Playhouse Company of Elkins from a trip to Charleston to attend WV’s
annual Martin Luther King Celebration. This year, The Old Brick Playhouse
won the “Living the Dream” Service Organization Honor Roll Award
from the Martin Luther King, Jr. West Virginia Holiday Commission.

Project Steer
The Old Brick Playhouse introduces an exciting and
effective new program available both on tour and in house. Project
Steer, is a resource available to any business or organization aiming
to improve customer and employee morale, to increase productivity,
to build a more positive work environment, to eliminate negative
work habits, to improve creative problem solving, and to provide
a direct outlet for employee feedback through the use of Role Playing.
Role Playing can be used by management and employees to replicate
business situations. This method is the systematic building of correct
habits while learning the acceptable and best way to communicate
your ideas both to colleagues and to customers. Not only does Project
Steer serve an educational purpose for both employees and management
but also promises an evening of fun filled interactive entertainment.
To find out more information or to schedule training call the Old
Brick office or e-mail missy@theoldbrick.org.
Brick-o-vision
In response to the communal separation anxiety that
takes place when one of our Apprentice students moves away or graduates,
John Prentice devised a system by which these students can attend
virtually a portion of the weekly apprentice meeting. Brick-o-vision,
created and piloted by a group of Apprentices utilizes technology
to allow our group of eighty five students and seven staff to interact
with Apprentice Alums as they attend our weekly meeting through Skype.
Now established, this resource will be available to other homesick
apprentice alumni who would just like to drop in for a taste of nostalgia
and good clean Old Brick fun. And in the case that we ever need a
magic mirror – these virtual students may also have an actual onstage
during and actual production.
